Arts Award is a programme of creative awards and qualifications from Trinity College London, giving children and young people aged up to 25 the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills and gain recognition for their creative work.

There are five levels, from the introductory Discover certificate through to Gold, a Level 3 qualification worth 16 UCAS points. Unlike traditional qualifications, Arts Award is portfolio-based, with no exams or fixed deadlines. Young people can work towards an award through creative activities that interest them, at a pace that suits them.

At MindJam, this can include gaming and digital creativity. Whether it’s building in Minecraft, designing characters, creating digital artwork or developing their own games, young people can use skills and interests they already have as a starting point for their Arts Award.

10 ways to use gaming and digital skills in your Arts Award

One of our MindJam mentors and Arts Award consultants, Luke Fraser, has written an article for the official Arts Award blog, sharing 10 practical ways gaming and digital skills can be used towards an Arts Award.

The article draws on the kinds of activities we explore with young people at MindJam, with ideas ranging from Minecraft builds and Roblox Studio to music creation, animation and sharing creative skills with others.
