Hey there, my name is Sarah!
I am a visual artist with a love for creativity, storytelling, games, and lifelong learning. I went to
university, where I studied comics and concept art. I used my love for games, manga, and
animation to push my interests and career.

My goal is to create a safe and welcoming space where young people can feel comfortable
being their authentic selves. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals who may
also experience the pressure to mask who they really are or feel unable to fully express
themselves. I want young people to feel seen, valued, and empowered to explore their interests,
strengths, and individuality.

Growing up, I had always been obsessed with art and drawing. I often found myself in my own
little world, scribbling away. When I was young, I found it extremely hard to connect with others
and to make friends. It was a challenge going through school and education as I always felt
misunderstood not only by my peers, but also the teachers. It wasn’t until I got into college and
focused on my art education, where I blossomed, and it’s due to the wonderful art teacher I had.
This teacher didn’t just show me what paths were available for art, but she also had a lot of
patience with me, which was all I ever really needed. I want to bring that same kindness and
patience to everything I do.

While at university, I worked on a few indie projects, which further developed my creativity and
mindset. I learnt a lot of different skills and parts of the game creation pipeline while working on
these projects, and learnt that you can do a lot with a little.

After university, I made the jump and moved abroad to Japan, where my love for creativity
blossomed even more. I met people from many areas of the creative industry! As well as
creatives who partook in traditional Japanese crafts. I feel grateful and blessed for these
connections, which were all sparked from the love and joy we held for arts, games, and
animation.

Before moving into mentoring, I worked in a preschool that utilised a Reggio Emilia-inspired
model. Where sensory play, creativity, and child-led learning were at the heart and soul of
everything we did. This really opened my eyes to how powerful imagination, play, and genuine
connection can be in helping young people find their inner confidence and express themselves.
A lot of the students who attended the preschool had a variety of different needs, including
SEND and various emotional needs. Watching over time how these bright young children came
out of their shells and engaged with the environment at their own pace was so inspiring and
moving. This experience really projected the passion I had for teaching and mentoring, and I
knew I wanted to develop this love, and then I found Mindjam.

I bring curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm to everything I do. If there’s something I don’t know, I
wanna learn about it! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of my mentees,
sharing interests together, and discovering new ones! As well as building confidence in who
they are.

I am fully DBS checked and have completed my training in online safeguarding and mental
health
