Hiya! I’m Roy. I’ve been a gamer at heart since I was a “young’un,” and I still have a massive soft spot for the classics that started it all for me, like Donald Duck: Quack Attack and Heart of Darkness.

While they might not be the most talked-about titles today, they ignited my lifelong love for the art of video games and storytelling. I’m currently sinking my teeth in Hades, Baldur’s Gate 3, Animal Crossing and Star Wars: Outlaws, and I’m happy to play whatever game is desired. I play a wide variety of games as you’ll be able to see in my Favourite Games section (sorry in advance, it’s a long list….)

Originally from the Netherlands and now based in the UK, my professional background is in theatre and filmmaking. I specialize in helping people find their voice and tell their own personal stories through creative media. I know how difficult it can feel to be heard in such a fast-paced world, and I’m dedicated to making sure every young person I work with feels seen and understood. Through my experience in the creative arts and my personal gaming experiences I’ve come to learn how gaming is not only a therapeutic outlet, but also a perfect way to inspire creativity.

Being neurodivergent myself—having received my ADHD diagnosis much later in life—I am passionate about providing the kind of support system I wish I’d had as a kid. I understand the importance of hyper-focus and how easy and difficult it can be dealing with it on daily basis. Whether we’re diving into Blender, exploring Python together, or simply sitting in a comfortable “parallel play” silence while we game, I’m here to support my mentees at their own pace. I’m a firm believer that we’re always learning, and I love picking up new skills right alongside the people I mentor.

I am fully DBS checked and up-to-date with all safeguarding and data protection protocols, ensuring a safe, supportive space for everyone. I come with a lot of life experience and will be able to talk comfortably on a large variety of subjects. I’m here to be a helping hand and am happy to put my enthusiasm, understanding and skills to good use! 😀
