Hi, I’m Eva!

Before joining MindJam, I worked as a nanny for two years supporting a neurodivergent child who was obsessed with Minecraft. We connected on our love of gaming and it was through exploring the game together that I realised just how powerful gaming is as a way to connect. We built a real trust, built social skills, learned so much together and had an absolute blast while doing so. For the past year I moved to online work as a gaming mentor for that child and other neurodivergent kids and young people, becoming a part of their support system. I gained experience in supporting individuals with various needs such as Autism, ADHD and PDA as well as mental health issues and trauma.

I approach every child with warmth and empathy, providing an open space for them to explore whatever they want to while feeling safe. I am a bit of a child at heart and love diving into their worlds, hearing about favourite characters and all about what they’ve been doing in-game. As a neurodivergent person myself I have found it so helpful for my wellbeing, getting involved in the community and having others around me who truly understand and can support me. I love that as a mentor I get to be part of that support system for others.

I started gaming when I was about 5 or 6, playing online games and fighting back and forth with my sister over playing the DS. As I got older I moved on to pc and switch games and found myself becoming obsessed with games like stardew valley, terraria and undertale, as well as finding how much fun it is to play with friends. I love problem solving, learning game mechanics and getting lost in lore and fan theories.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Music and an NCFE Certificate in understanding autism, as well as all relevant training for mentors. I am also fully DBS checked. Outside of MindJam I love songwriting, gaming (of course) and various arts and crafts projects that usually end up half finished. I love animals and sadly don’t have a pet at the moment so I would love to hear all about your pets!
