Mentor

Hi, I’m Chelly! Little fun fact about me: my name, Chelly, comes from one of my favourite Pokémon, Squirtle. In Cantonese (my native language), Squirtle is pronounced as Chelly Turtle. So I decided I will become one of them 🙂

I am currently training to become a counsellor/ therapist and have an MSc in Psychology. In the past, I worked as a tutor for SEN students, supporting them academically and emotionally. These days, I am volunteering as a Mental Health Recovery Pathway worker to facilitate support groups and 1-to-1 sessions with adults and young people with various needs, such as Autism, anxiety, stress, and other complexes.

Gaming runs in my family’s blood. I grew up playing party games with my parents, co-op games with my brother, and those are some memories I cherish to this day. It is a place where people can connect wherever they are.

Things we get out of a game are so different for everybody. I love that we can all enjoy the same game with vastly different preferences and experiences. Outside of completing the main quest, I always get sidetracked by other details. Like discovering animal species in RDR2, reading the lore in Skyrim, and learning about Greek mythology in Hades. I have discovered so many aspects of myself and passions I’ve never known of. That’s why I believe gaming is such an excellent channel to explore widely and safely, and I would love to wander into a new area with my mentees!

Life can be stressful and filled with the unknown. It’s okay to be lost, to be unsure, and to be quiet. This is a place for you to be yourself and express whatever you are comfortable with. Gaming, silence, small chat, long chat, building, and so on. I am happy to see every facet that you share, and I will listen. It is always about respect and trust.

Hope to see you soon!
