Mentor

Hello there, my name is Christopher. It’s lovely to meet you and I am thrilled to be part of the MindJam family.

I’ve been in the creative field now as a graphic designer and visualiser for over a decade and though my love for design and illustration holds true, I felt that some aspects of my day to day work started to lack something for me, the desire to teach and inspire took the reins of what I wanted out of life and that’s when I turned to MindJam.

I was fortunate enough as a designer to be at the forefront of numerous projects that had a direct impact on local charities that focused on the care and development of children alongside running workshops to educate students on the digital creative programs. I strongly believe that the arts and gaming can and will play a huge part in a child’s personal development in addition to their growth with interacting with others and tackling life’s many hurdles.

Another creative pastime I stand by is tabletop roleplaying, in particular – Dungeons and Dragons. Alongside videogames I’ve been: rolling dice, creating fantastical worlds and fighting off hordes of enemies for over fifteen years with hundreds of gametime hours both as a player and as a dungeon master running campaigns of my own creation.

Many children and adults alike can find at times the contemporary pressures of the real world: overwhelming, consuming and daunting to say the least but upon entering a world of your own creation, you’re able to regain control and explore social and cultural curiosities that some may find difficult in day to day life.

Thank you for taking your time to visit my bio and I look forward to meeting you soon, whether delving into a goblin infested camp, a diamond rich blocky cave or dropping into your favourite battle royale!

Favourite Games

My go-to consoles are the Switch and PC – Oh,and my favourite games? – I’m certainly going to miss a few off the list here but: Magic the Gather/Arena, Unravelled 2, Minecraft, It Takes Two, all of the Super Mario games – basically anything and everything Nintendo produce: the Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Warioland 4, Donkey Kong Country to name a few. I have spent more hours than I’d like to admit playing: Final Fantasy XI and XIV throughout the years. I enjoy pretty much every genre of gaming as each one has something unique to bring to the table. I could be drifting on the night streets of the West Coast, building my very own utopia, leading a party of warriors through a quest or tending to my crops – I’ll play it all!

Hobbies

Alongside the mentioned videogames and tabletop roleplaying, I have numerous interests and geeky enjoyments that run alongside these in my life. I love to paint miniatures, whether that be Warhammer or models from the numerous boardgames I have on my shelves. I have an extensive collection of retro consoles, some of which I’ve looked after since my childhood and others I’ve bought in to modify and restore, replacing their screens or giving them a new shell to sit in. I adore anime and Japanese culture – being lucky enough to have spent just shy of a month there recently, I love to talk about travel and hearing how others live and view the world.
