Abbie Wilson

Senior Management / Mentor

I have always been a passionate advocate for mental health and have supported friends, families, colleagues and service users with an array of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction to name just a few.
I graduated from the Open University in 2018 with a BSc Psychology (Honours) degree and have since become a trained Mental Health First Aider, and have done further training in safeguarding, counselling skills, ASD, child abuse and neglect, DV, hidden harm, self-harm/ suicidal thoughts, stress, PDA and child psychology/ development. I have also done training on Prevent and Information Assurance, and I am fully DBS checked.
I believe all children should be provided a safe, comfortable space where they can express themselves, feel comfortable enough to talk about their mental health and be shown unconditional positive regard regardless of what they share. All children should be given the opportunity to explore their interests and learn something new but at their own speed, which is why I think it is great that MindJam can offer not only 1:1 sessions but can also teach kids valuable skills which they will take with them through life.
I love gaming so I’m so happy to be able to combine my two passions and support children/ young adults. My favourite games include Skyrim, Stardew Valley, Sims and any kind of simulator!
My other interests and hobbies include reading, TV and film (especially mysteries, sci-fi and Disney), crafts and science/ space. I have nephews, nieces and a goddaughter and spend a lot of my spare time with them which I absolutely adore. I have also three pets; a dog called Dougal and two cats – Bruce and Binnie aka The Terrors!
