Sonner Mouland
Mentor
Heyo, my name’s Sonner.
I work in education supporting a wide variety of children and young adults both within mainstream education and specific support of SEN, currently I am training to become a teacher. I have experience as a learning assistant supporting a variety of courses and subjects as well as young people with SpLN such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. My academic focus is in history, however I’ve studied teaching and public speaking at higher levels to prepare myself for roles in education.
Given that I work in part-time education, I have a regularly updated DBS, I am also provided with regular training that is updated and built upon for supporting young individuals with ADHD, autism, and a variety of cognitive and functional learning difficulties. Being part of both education and MindJam means I am up to date on safeguarding regulations.
As far as me personally goes, I’ve loved video games and nerdom for as long as I can remember. I think just like many others I’ve valued it as a break and a safe space from difficulties of life and it’s an opportunity to share experiences, challenges and memories. Growing up, I was always followed by the taboo of being a “Nerd”. Through MindJam, I’d like to provide young people with an adult figure who can assure and encourage them that not only is it ok, it’s something to be proud of. From there a young person can grow, develop social skills in a comfortable environment and develop at their own pace.
I enjoy a vast variety of games. I both love and would like to think I’m adept at both fast-paced shooters like Call of Duty and Fortnite, as well as tactical shooters like Counter-Strike, Overwatch (2) and Valorant. I enjoy Minecraft, and it is one of my all-time favourites. I also enjoy plenty of strategy games such as Civilisation, the Total War: Warhammer series and Hearthstone. Outside of gaming I enjoy Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars and Marvel.
We'd love to hear from you.
