Mentor

Hey there! My name is Sam. I have experience working with various SEN needs such as ADHD, PDA and other physical disabilities through the kayaking clubs I associate with and through previous experience as a coach and in a few teams I lead. I am enhanced DBS checked and have completed my safeguarding training.

I’ve spent a lot of time playing video games as a passion from when I was 6 years old and I got the first Gameboy, (it’s still somewhere too!) this passion soon began to develop for me into a way to express myself in a way that helped me feel comfortable around others and gauging situations. Eventually I started to pursue this when I joined a speedrunning team within Destiny 2 where we went on to achieve world records, one of which we still hold to this day! One of the members of my team had autism and learning his coping mechanisms and how he saw details was truly awe inspiring. How he managed to see things the rest of us couldn’t and how he always aspired to do something better. It truly ignited a flame in me to want to work for more and help others accomplish this, which I then went on to teach on my Twitch for a couple of years.
I do believe that giving anybody a chance to thrive by providing a place of comfort and safety is absolutely the way to encourage growth. These young people are our future and I believe that nurturing them is important so they can grow into any role they desire.

Favourite Games

I play a variety of games; Rogue Company, Destiny 2, Grounded, Stardew Valley, Fortnite, Valheim, Palworld, Overcooked 2 and many more.

Hobbies

Outside of gaming, I adore outside activities like kayaking, hill walking, camping, surfing, paddleboarding and photography. I have been working on learning editing software through Davinci Resolve, which has been both challenging and fun!

We'd love to hear from you.
