Nicky Baverstock

Mentor

Hi, I’m Nicky

I have been a support worker for people with learning disabilities, ADHD and Autism for several years and I’ve found the best support is often just being there and giving people time, enabling them to be themselves in a non-judgemental setting. This is what drew me to Mindjam and their shared ethos of providing support in a relaxed non-judgmental setting led by the young people who are receiving the support. I am excited to be working with MindJam and learning new games and digital skills.

I have trained as a mental health first aider, I have a diploma in adult health and social care and I have studied to understand young people’s mental health.

I have experienced depression and anxiety, and it’s incredibly difficult to talk about. Games and crafting are a wonderful outlet for many people, myself included.

I enjoy open-ended worlds and getting lost in side quests, where you can switch off for a while and enjoy yourself.

I studied English and creative writing at university and enjoy short stories from time to time, but mainly spend my time reading science fiction rather than writing it.

Favourite Games

Some of my favourite games include Fallout, Skyrim, Minecraft and Mario Kart.

Hobbies

Other hobbies and interests I have are sewing, making things from clay and resin, 3d printing and Hama beads. I also once spent a long time making my soaps and bath fizzers.

My Pets

I have 2 cats and a tortoise named A’tuin, after the giant turtle flying through space in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels. GNU Terry Pratchett.

We'd love to hear from you.
