Mentor

My name is Josh, and I play a lot of games. I have a BSc in Psychology and plan to continue my studies, hopefully one day becoming HCPC accredited. I have a massive passion for psychology, never far away from web of science or google scholar, I love research and solving problems using it. I have been involved in several online communities, helping young men (some of which with neurodivergence) to find their place in the world.

Professionally, I have experience in both the delivery and management of care for individuals with Autism, PDA and ADHD. My highlights so far, have been working with one young man who hadn’t been able to access education for several years, and over the course of 9 months he was able to return and succeed in his studies. Additionally, using my background in psychology, I would gather the latest psychological research and interventions and use that to develop a range of tools for anxious teens; I was able to share these with my cases and seeing incremental but definite improvement.

Personally, I have always been part of online community. I have always admired how games can provide solace, so many of my friends have found comfort despite everything else going wrong, myself included.  Gaming is such a huge part of my life, I love discussing them, analysing them, complaining about them, and playing them. I will literally play any game, regardless of genre, if someone is passionate about a game, I will always try it. This has led me to playing a lot of different games. But some of my favourites are;

Some of my other interests are; DOGS, Music (all variants of metal, math rock and jazz), sailing, snowboarding, anime, manga, 90s-00s Scifi TV, 70s-00s horror movies and collecting low budget movies.
