Jonathan Dunt

Mentor

Hello my name is Jonathan, I have been a support worker for the past 3 years in a range of settings covering supported living, residential homes and a college. One of my favourite roles has been at Sense Touchbase South east day centre where we worked one to one doing various therapeutic sessions from gaming to music jams, relaxing sensory rooms or throwing ourselves around on a trampoline! I have experienced first hand how these therapeutic sessions can bring ease to eliminate boundaries and open lines of communication, creativity and confidence. I have experience working with a whole host of wonderful people that may have various communication difficulties, autism, adhd, PDA, anxiety and have an easy going approach to create a relaxed and positive environment. During this time it has helped me to understand that it is not an individual’s differences that pose barriers to them, but rather society’s inability to understand and adapt to these differences.

I have been an avid gamer most of my life, losing myself in Minecraft, Skyrim and big open world games. Other hobbies I have consist of drumming, music….record hunting, football, film and claymation / stop motion. I have enjoyed gaming from a young age as escapism to help with anxiety but also as a way of connecting with people. I really look forward to meeting you and getting into a gaming session!
