Hi there, my name is Carlos!

What is there to say about me? I am a writer by trade, I love games, retro game collecting,
cartoons and I am an avid gardener. I grew up in the late 90’s and early 2000’s so some of
my earliest memories were the anime boom, Tony Hawks, Spongbob and Hey Arnold. I
guess I can’t complain!
Growing up, I was the problem kid who never showed up to school. Personally I believe this
stemmed from an undiagnosed school-based anxiety, but since hitting my adult years and
finding a lot more stability at university I have come to terms with my school years and hope
to help somebody else struggling at a similar point in their life. I understand how difficult
those years can be first-hand and I feel my experience may help them put things into
perspective.
I’ve worked in a few different environments, but my passion is writing. At university I took this
in the direction of game design and so I learnt the traits behind ludonarrative storytelling
(telling a story through play). During this time I also learnt the basics of programming, 3D
modelling and directing, but the thing that made the most impact on me was when for a
module, I led a group of talented people in developing a game for children with disabilities.
The project was a tough one where we had to think of ways to play with only one button! But
the work felt incredibly meaningful and knowing we helped improve someone’s quality of life
made all the stress worthwhile!
I joined Mindjam on a recommendation from a friend and I’m looking forward to seeing what
the future holds!

Oh and as a background note my favourite games growing up were Pokemon Ruby, Spyro
2, The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker, Kingdom Hearts II and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
Those games will always hold a special place in my heart, a love I will definitely never stop
talking about when started!
