Cal Evans

Mentor

Hey, my name is Cal and I look forward to working with you! First though, here’s a little bit about me –

Growing up with a younger brother who is autistic, I saw first hand how difficult it was for him to navigate the world around him and how hard it was for my parents. Gaming was a great way for my brother to relax and be creative. I have many fond memories of him and I connecting online and playing games together.

From my experience with my brother, I was inspired to work with SEND children and I went on to become a one-on-one mentor supporting children with a variety of different needs including ASD, ADHD, PDA and trauma. I found it very rewarding seeing them grow, gain confidence and eventually open up and talk about issues they had through the fun and relaxed environment I was able to create for them.

I have also worked in China for a number of years teaching English to children between the ages of 5 and 18 and found this experience extremely valuable. I enjoyed learning about a new culture and living on the other side of the world!

I’ve enjoyed gaming since I was little, and still remember when I first tried Halo online and my mind was blown. I went on to play Call of Duty competitively. I loved being a part of the online Esports community, building good friendships and learning how to work well within a team. I think gaming is a fantastic outlet for people and a really valuable tool in today’s society.

I love travelling, music and playing drums in my spare time. I was lucky enough to combine all 3 and toured around Europe with my band.I also enjoy photography, plants, lifting weights and nutrition.
