Hello, my name is Billy. I have a background in Learning and Development, previously working for my local authority. I have experience working with young children and their carers. In my previous role, I was responsible for delivering training to parents and carers in order to equip them with the knowledge to further support their children. 

I am looking forward to starting with MindJam to share my experience with mentees and my peers, as well as being able to learn from them too. When I heard about MindJam, I knew it would be the perfect role for me because of my passion with gaming and engaging with others. Having struggled in mainstream school because I felt isolated due to being neurodiverse and not fitting in, gaming has helped me to become part of a wider community. I have met new people and made some incredible friends and as a result feel more comfortable being myself. 

When I was 16 my kidneys failed, this meant I needed regular dialysis treatment 3 times a week. I spent a lot of time in hospital which meant I had less connections to the outside world. I first started playing Destiny(1) in 2014 shortly after it had released, this is where I thrived. I met my core group of friends who understood me, a world inside a game that allowed me hours upon hours of happiness and being able to learn new things. Gaming is misunderstood, a universe within a world on Minecraft that allows you to build anything you desire. I will always be an advocate for the positivity that gaming will bring to our lives, there is a game out there for everyone. May it be a platform game, a Massive Multiplayer Online(MMO) game, a racing game or any sports game in particular. 

Outside of gaming, I am a huge Coventry City supporter with a season ticket for over 15 years and regularly attend games with my partner and friends. I enjoy building LEGO, going to the cinema and walking my dog. My enjoyment of music is varied, I have attended concerts for Kings of Leon, Tom Grennan, McFly, Green Day plus others.
