Adam Butler

Hi there!

My name is Adam and I’m an actor, director, twitch streamer, tutor, and mentor. I’ve been working as a tutor and personal mentor for students with autism, ADHD, PDA as well as various mental health issues.

I trained as an actor in Glasgow and have been working as a drama teacher and personal mentor since graduating. I run a Youth Theatre in Edinburgh where we pride ourselves on making it a safe space to explore and be yourself – which are values I take into every mentoring session. I have recently finished a tour around Scotland’s schools with a science workshop.

Working with MindJam was a no-brainer for me. Their values of support, inclusion, and offering young people a space where they feel safe and comfortable is something I care deeply about. I like to think of myself as a good listener and a friendly, easy-going person. Helping people in whatever way they need is something that is so important in life, and MindJam allows me to offer this, while combining it with my love of gaming.

Gaming holds such an important role in my life. I’ve been gaming since I was a child (I remember beating my sister at HALO: CE when it first released), and I think the escape and comfort gaming offers is a wonderful place to support emotional well-being. I love a good chilled out city-builder game like Banished or Timberborn, but I’m also a huge player of multiplayer games such as Deep Rock Galactic, Fortnite, HALO, Minecraft, Roblox, Call of Duty, FIFA, Lethal Company and Content Warning. I also love a good puzzle game like Portal 2, It Takes Two or Escape Acadamy.
I’m always down to play new games and usually pick things up quickly!

Outside of MindJam and gaming, my interests include theatre (where I work as an actor and a director), animals (I make regular visits to the Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary) and travelling (Usually spending a weekend in the countryside).

I’m fully DBS checked and have training in Safeguarding, Online Safety, Data Protection, Non Suicidal Self Injury, Anxiety and Stress in young people, Autism and PDA.
I look forward to meeting you!
