Hey Everyone, I have worked with children and young people with a variety of SEN needs such as ASD (Verbal and Non-Verbal), PDA, ADHD, ODD and many Physical Disabilities by providing behavioral support strategies, communication sessions, PECs, Sensory Feedback session, emotion coaching and much more within their own homes and also within education settings. In addition to this I have worked within residential homes for children who have SEMH and experienced trauma. Whilst within this role I have worked with children and young people who experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-harmed and have been involved with Gangs and county lines.
Working with children and young people with SEN & SEMH has been a passion of mine for the last 12yrs and trying to give them all the support they need to thrive. I strongly believe that beneath every behaviour there is a feeling and beneath every feeling there is a need. When we meet that need rather than focusing on the behaviour, we begin to deal with the cause not the symptom.
As a parent myself of a child with a diagnosis of ASD with a profile of PDA along with many other difficulties, I can understand how much pressure and stress the families can face. I have found that gaming has provided a much more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere to encourage conversation and communication skills. It allows you to immerse yourself into the child/young persons world rather than trying to force them into a situation in which they aren’t comfortable. I have been an avid gamer since I was a child and this is still very much the case now. I play across most platforms and enjoy a variety of games such as Call of Duty, Witcher 3, Minecraft, Fortnite, ARK, Skyrim, Sea of Thieves only to name a few.
Outside of gaming I enjoy theatre and musicals, going for walks with my Golden Labrador “Blue”, listening to music (mainly rock & metal) and Marvel Universe.

We'd love to hear from you.
