Reece Willams
Mentor
Hey there! I’m Reece and I am a Child Services Practitioner. I have worked with adults with
Autism, verbal and non-verbal, for 3 years. Learning to be patient and give the individuals
the support they require to help them lead a full and happy life. I have worked in a residential
children’s home for over a year with children with a range of SEN. I have learned a great
deal of experience and knowledge working with young people with Autism, ADHD, FAutism,
PDA and ACE’s. Through this I have seen how my passion for video games and making
music can be a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the young person and how they
like to play and learn.
I studied Forensic Science at University but after working in the science industry, I found my
passion was helping and supporting others. While at university I began to have anxiety
which led to me avoiding classes and feeling the guilt of that. I turned to video games. I
could play online with friends who were hundreds of miles away yet they felt like they were in
the room. I continue to feel like I can open up with my friends gaming online as it breaks
down that barrier of speaking with someone face to face.
My first memory of playing video games was with my sister playing Golden Axe on the Sega.
I loved the couch co-op style and still do now. I also love playing single player games with
my friends, where we swap controllers and choose which paths to take. Along with playing
video games with friends, I began writing music and playing guitar with my friends. This
sparked a passion for creating music which led to learning how to use different music
softwares, instruments and video editing. I was amazed to find out that one of my songs was
played on the radio.
I am excited to begin this new adventure with Mindjam and look forward to engaging with the
young people and share our love of video games in a positive and healthy way.
Favourite Games
Some of my favourite games are; Fornite, Zelda, Mario, Super Smash Bros. DayZ, Battlefield, Fallout 3, Call of Duty, Mincecraft, Helldivers 2, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Ori
and the Blind Forest.
Hobbies
