I am a caring individual that has always thrived in helping others, and making them
feel included and comfortable. I have experience working with families in numerous
settings, and it’s been a priority for me to help others develop for as long as I can
remember!
From a young age, I have become aware of the unfair treatment society gives to the
neurodivergent. I have seen this in an up close and personal way, through family and
friends being diagnosed. This has given me a huge drive to be as inclusive and
supportive as I possibly can. We all deserve to have someone in our corner, ready for
when we could use a hand, or simply feel overwhelmed.
I’ve had my fair share of disappointment with the traditional education system. It
goes from not adapting to my interests and skills to not helping me when I was
bullied. I then found what then became my favorite coping mechanism : Gaming. It
helped me get through a turbulent primary school, and then became a hobby and a
passion.
Little by little, gaming helped me regain confidence. It reminded me there are things
I am great at, despite what the other kids said. It gave me an environment where I
could get better, without feeling threatened or judged by anyone else. My computer
gave me a safe area where I could learn other skills, such as basic video editing, audio
editing, graphic design and languages. All I needed was to learn on my own terms, as
not everyone is interested in the same things!
Once I had regained enough confidence, these newfound skills helped me interact
both online and offline. Both were equally helpful for me to figure out what society
works like, and have been able to integrate through effort and time.
Now, some interesting bits about me: I am a qualified tennis coach, and have played
since I was 12. I speak five languages, three of those at a native level – Galician,
Spanish, English, Italian and Portuguese. Hoping to expand this list soon! I also love
animals, and have always been fond of dogs. We currently have a dog called Kiwi in
my childhood home, and I am mostly in charge of training her. In my spare time, I
also volunteer at the local animal shelter.
I am fully DBS checked and have completed my safeguarding training.
