John Green
Mentor
Hello! I’m John, nice to meet you.
I have worked as a professional video game developer for the past 5 years, working on such games as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Alan Wake, and EA’s WRC. During my time at university I was a mentor for first year students for 3 years, and school president and a tutor during my masters year. I really enjoy helping people develop a passion for all things programming. I also took part in several international competitions in video games development whilst at university, such as Search For A Star, which I won in 2019, and Grads In Games, in which I received an award for best third-year university project in England in 2020.
Another passion of mine is learning the Japanese language. I have been studying since 2022, with a goal to one day live and work in Japan and would like to take the JLPT exam in 2025. I also enjoy running meetups for programmers where we can take part in the global game jam and other competitions throughout the year and organized this several times whilst at university. Another passion of mine is retro video games and retro video game development. I have made several gameboy projects over the years, from making my own platformers on the gameboy, making my own emulators to run gameboy games and even making my own custom gameboy cartridges, as during lockdown I developed a love for electronics.
I have traveled to several countries over the past few years such as Japan, France, Gibraltar, Portugal and Germany. I love traveling and meeting new people.
