Jack Leatherbarrow

Mentor

I have extensive experience working as a domiciliary support worker with children and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, and other associated challenges. I have also served as a senior mentor in an alternative provision, providing bespoke support tailored to the needs of each child. No matter the individual I work with, I strive to ensure a person-centered and, person-led approach to foster trust, engagement, and meaningful progress.

As a computer games programmer proficient in Unreal Engine and Unity, I bring a unique perspective that blends technical knowledge with creativity. My love for gaming began as a child and has evolved into a career in game development. I graduated with First-Class Honours and received an award for the Best Game at university. I am currently leading a team to create our own game, an experience I am eager to share with young people passionate about learning Game Development.

By using video games as a medium, I help young individuals feel comfortable in a familiar environment that promotes skill-building, self-expression, and achievement. I believe this approach, much like my experience in alternative provision, fosters self-worth and independence while providing opportunities to explore challenges in a way that feels safe and empowering.
