Charlie Stenson
Mentor
Gaming is one of the first social languages children learn.
That was once me, and I am incredibly proud to help others find their voice through the social building blocks of online communication. Usually minecraft blocks too.
Hello! I’m Charlie. I have a degree in Theatre from the University of Lincoln, 3 years of experiences as a secondary school Teaching Assistant supporting students with autism and adhd, and application of childcare with American Child Protective Services.I worked in relation with child behavioural specialists in Missouri using my skills as a Dungeons and Dragons DM as a form of emotional regulation for children.
My gaming specialty is in RPGS and World-Building. From Assassins Creed to Zelda, the ability to consider a different perspective in a virtual world to explore actions and consequences can be massively beneficial to learning and mental health. I know because that was me once (thank you Borderlands 2, you were the reason I started making friends). Every video game has its value in problem solving, friendship and creativity. I’m an avid speedrunner of Dark Souls, Hades, and a lot of roguelikes. That sense of community to strive to be the best epitomises gaming culture’s collaborative achievement and growth so well!!
It would have meant the world to me to have a mentor like Mindjam as a child, so am I glad I can give that support to the next generation of gamers.
