Billy Pagden
Mentor
I began my career in education as a mentor in an alternative provision before progressing to a supervisory role, where I oversaw a team of mentors supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism and ADHD. To further enhance my ability to support young individuals, I have also completed training in safeguarding, Prevent, understanding mental health, and online safety.
My passion for gaming began at a young age with titles like Minecraft and Halo, which later sparked my interest in game development. I strongly believe that video games can provide a comfortable space for self-expression, helping young people build confidence, improve self-worth, and develop essential social and problem-solving skills.
I graduated with first-class honours and received an award for the best project at university. Now, I am working with a small team to develop our own game—an experience I aim to share with young, aspiring game developers. Through my knowledge of Unreal Engine, Unity, Roblox Studio, and Scratch, I strive to make game development more accessible and inspiring for the next generation.
