Hello! My name is Arrie and it’s great to meet you!

For the last few years I have been working at an SEN school – predominantly within the
English department – and have found gaming to be a great way to connect to young people.
Having studied at the Open University and gained my degree in English language and
Creative Writing I was keen to use these skills in an engaging way for the students. This led
to me becoming the ‘D&D Guy’ within the school as I took my passion for Dungeons and
Dragons and created an official club. My Dungeons and Dragons club was incredibly popular
and ended up becoming a daily ran event where I could explore numerous themes and real-
life situations that challenged my students’ current views on the world. On top of this I
currently play in a campaign with my cousins and a couple friends that has been running for
over three years now.

This passion for D&D also ties into my love of creative writing as it allows me to write
bespoke backstories and do extensive worldbuilding in my favoured genre of Fantasy.
As well as this, video games will always have a place in my heart. Having began at around
four years old playing Crash Bash on the PlayStation one and having no clue what I was
doing, I have gone on to attempt going professional in my teen years on CS:GO with a group
of my friends. Although unsuccessful, I learnt valuable skills about teamwork, management
and sportsmanship. Nowadays you can catch me sitting back and relaxing with 100+ hour
RPGs for the most part but the itch for high paced competitive gameplay is never fully
satisfied…
I also love traveling and experiencing different cultures. I can’t understate how important it
has been on my own development as a person and always recommend it to anyone who has
the chance. I would challenge you to tell me something about Japan I don’t already know.
My knowledge and experience within SEN has shown me how positive an effect gaming can
have on young people and I am excited to use that to help more young people going forwards.
