Hello, I’m Amy!

I have been in the creative industry for the last two years, with a degree in
Animation Production, specialising in stop-motion, editing and compositing. From
Lego animations to digital effects, I love to get stuck into anything artsy! I have
years of experience in many programs you may be familiar with, such as the
Adobe Suite, and I love teaching others the amazing things they can make with
just a few clicks. I am also fully DBS checked and CPD certified in safeguarding
and online safety.

Growing up with two neuro-divergent siblings, I saw first hand the barriers that
were put in front of them due to lack of support and understanding. There are
countless ways having Autism and ADHD can impact someone, and no individual
has the same experience as another. I believe it’s important to understand this,
so that I can provide a comfortable space for any neuro-divergent child in my
care, where they feel happy to be themselves with no judgement.

Gaming has always been a happy influence on my life, and I know it’s the same
for many more kids today. As a very shy adolescent, video games allowed me to
connect with others easily, and through this I have made many lifelong friends.
From solving puzzles on Portal, playing FPS games with friends, and exploring
the open-world of Breath of the Wild, gaming has consistently provided me a
comforting escape in times of need, and I fully believe in it’s therapeutic potential.

I also have many other hobbies, such as cosplaying, digital art, sculpting and
painting models. I’m also known to try my hand at baking, although not always
successfully! Additionally, I’ve been teaching myself Japanese for around 4
years, and am always looking for people to practice with. I have a chihuahua
named Gizmo, and I’m a huge cinema lover, having watched far too many
movies for one person’s short existence!

I wholeheartedly believe in MindJam’s ethos and their advocation for children
with SEN. I’m looking forward to working with likeminded people, and I’m excited
to meet my mentees and have lots of fun!
